To be eligible for c​ertification, your business needs to be:​

  • 51% owned, controlled, and actively managed by one or more service-disabled veterans. 

    Per §​ State Statute 16.283​(1)(b) and Administrative Code 82.22, eligible disabled ​veterans must:

    1. Have a Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (Form DD214)

    2. Be ​Residents of Wisconsin

    3. ​​Have a Disability Rating​ ​of at least 0% with the Department of Veteran's Affairs or an Armed Services Branch​

  • sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, LLC, or joint ventures
  • Organized in a for profit basis (nonprofit and 501(c)(3) businesses are not eligible for DVB certification).
  • Currently performing a useful business function (i.e. has customers other than the State of Wisconsin).
  • No ownership or control changes and formed longer than the year prior to application.
  • Not held in trust.
  • If the business is a ​​subsidiary or affiliate, the parent company must be at least 51% owned by a minority owner or owners.
  • Headquarters located in Wisconsin.

There is a $150 fee for DVB certification applications. Out-of-State businesses are ineligible for DVB certification.
