Doing Business with the State

Doing Business with the State

The State of Wisconsin purchases billions of dollars of goods and services each year. There are many opportunities for a wide variety of business industries to do business with the State. The Wisconsin Supplier Diversity Program encourages the award of State contracts to diverse businesses to increase business opportunities for them and to help the state meet its goal of purchasing 5% with Certified MBEs and 1% with Certified DVBs.

Wisconsin is a low bid state. In general, Suppliers must bid on projects to get contracts with the State of Wisconsin with the exception of Best Judgment (< $5,000) and Sole Source opportunities. In general, the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder is awarded the contract.

Certified MBEs and DVBs receive a 5% preference when bidding on State Contracts.
